Most of the work in this show is new but some is from my previous one man show at the Castle Road Eagle Gallery in 2017 ‘Trying to Make Sense of it All’
There are dry-point etchings and block-prints, acrylic paintings and a few drawings. A range of cards based on the paintings will also be available.
The paintings can be loosely divided into two categories. Most are largely based on drawings completed in my sketchbooks of Cornish Harbours and could be described as semi-abstract. The ‘Covid’ series has been completed during Lockdown. The paintings make no conscious effort to refer to anything in particular but express my response to Lockdown and the Pandemic.
The drawings are based on shapes derived from objects in my studio and from elements from my paintings that hang in there. The self-portrait drawing is an expression of my on-going struggle with hearing loss.
The dry-point etchings are based on drawings and paintings that I have completed over time.
Through my work I explore various themes and ideas which slowly evolve.
