Studied sculpture and printmaking at Liverpool Art College.
My work reflects the contrast between the constant movement of tidal water, rivers and sea; light, shade, textures, and our need to control our environment - wharves, groynes and boats.
I interpret these themes through my love of the East Coast and Venice, in paintings and prints.
I am a member of Beds Artists Network and the Eagle Gallery.
I have exhibited work in Winchester, Suffolk, Luton and at the Eastern Open 2012.
Solo exhibitions include 'Xhibit' (Shefford, 2010) and the 'Eagle Gallery' (Bedford, 2011).
Winner of the 'Mona Thomson Prize for Printmaking' (Southwold Arts Society, 2012).
My collagraph prints are produced on a large hospital iron mangle that has been converted into an etching press.
I create printing plates on silver foil backed card, scratching into the surface with sharp implements and adding sand and glue for tonal effects. An inked plate and paper is passed through rollers to transfer the printed image.
Lino prints are produced by carving into Lino. Paper is applied to the inked plate and pressure is used either by hand,a Japanese baren, or roller to transfer the image.
