By the time I was three I was studying the light shining through boiled sweets sucked to thinness, the rainbows in raindrops on windows and the movement of light on windy days. I made gardens on tea trays with moss, grass, stones, twigs and a mirror for a pond.
I was equal-first art student in 1963 and had the pick of the colleges, but it took me a long time to mature as an artist and find my own line and method. Nowadays, most of the information I need is programmed in and I rarely need models. Indeed, my images need to be filtered through my imagination, reading, thinking and experiences to become interesting.
Although I paint right-handed, I can draw left handed, using a different part of the brain. Many pictured incorporate elements from both hands. The left hand work tends to be bolder, the right hand more precise.
Visitors are always welcome. The walls of my house are covered with pictures- and each one has a story to tell.
