Chiara is a Bedford-based socially engaged photographer with an emphasis on ethical practice who enjoys working jointly with people to explore and communicate identity and experiences.
Reflective and lyrical, Chiara’s personal practice explores the interconnectedness of people, places and objects to draw out emotion and relational themes. Often subtly weaving both personal and political into her work, she uses a combination of form, movement and light that invites the viewer to engage both feelings and reasoning. Printed on carefully chosen textured paper and framed in ways intended to heighten the tactile nature of the images, her work is made to exist in physical form; to be felt and savoured as well as seen.
Chiara is a member of the Eagle Gallery in Bedford. Her commercial work is grounded in the local community, often working with charities or local organisations like Booktastic Children’s Book festival, Carers in Bedfordshire, the Place Theatre, Queen’s Park Community Organisation, Bedford Green Week and Just Purple Presents. Her work capturing families behind their windows at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic featured on ITV local news and the BBC https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-52148480'
