I qualified with a Fine Art degree in 1974 footed by a post graduate teaching diploma, then began teaching art in 1978. Since retiring have started pursuing my own work.
I have completed several commissioned portraits of both people and animals in a variety of media including pencil, coloured pencil and oil paintings. These have been from a combination of life studies and photographic sources, whenever possible from photos taken by myself.
My present artwork revolves around the observation of my surroundings, taking the form of pencil studies, pen and ink and water colour paintings.
The most recent work has been pen and ink studies of canals and rivers, in particular the Grand Union Canal around Leighton Buzzard and water colour studies of pebbles collected from English beaches. These studies have looked at the colours and textures in the pebbles as a composition.
My previous Art School interest in printmaking has been revived into etching and engraving on small scale plates, developed from sketchbook images.
