Su Kiteley was born in London, educated in Leamington Spa and obtained a BA Hons Degree in Philosophy at Sussex University. She followed this with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education at Sussex and then moved to Bedfordshire in 1971. As well as her academic work, art has always been an important part of Su’s life and she drawn, painted and studied art for many years.

Su produces paintings and prints using a variety of media, experimenting with and developing ideas and techniques. Her work often depicts human and animal figures, trees, rocks and plant forms, focusing on the patterns and shapes they make and sometimes using them as the starting point for abstract compositions.

Media used include oil, watercolour and acrylic paints, pencil, pastel, prints using linocut, monotype and dry-point and also scraper-board and plaster.

Su has exhibited and sold her work through specialist shops and galleries, via many group and solo exhibitions, as well as direct from her studio. She is a founder member of the Eagle Gallery Artists and the Artists’ Network (Bedfordshire) and takes part in their annual Open Studios.
