Jennifer Smith

Jennifer Smith attended Leeds College of Art and Design before undertaking a degree in Fashion Design and Marketing at the University of East London.

She creates textural and vibrant prints with an emphasis on colour. Mainly working on collagraphs and drypoints, her training in fashion design has influenced the colourful illustrative nature of her prints and their emphasis on texture.

Jennifer’s collagraphs are dynamic, and often abstract, inspired by moods and travel. She has recently explored themes such as her love of music, with her saxophone becoming a recurrent source of imagery.

By contrast Jennifer’s etchings and drypoints are much more representative, consisting of detailed observations of her surroundings. These studies often inspire her collagraphs, as she prefers to work in great detail before then moving in to a more abstract style.
