Mike Townesend

Born in London, Mike moved to Bedfordshire in 1975 since when he has taught Art and Design in schools, further education and to Art Groups and Societies.

He was trained in Fine Art (Painting / Print- making) at Ravensbourne College of Art and Design and at Goldsmiths College London University in the theory and practice of Art and Design Education.

Mike’s work is eclectic and is always rooted in the observation of objects and places. His chosen mediums are oils, gouache and acrylics. Prints are mostly dry-point etchings and lino-prints, which are hand produced in limited editions. He also produces mono-prints.

Mike exhibits at the Eagle Gallery in Castle Lane and at the Art Centre in Bedford. He shows with members of the Artist’s Network (Bedfordshire) during the ‘Open Studios’ event and at other venues when opportunities present themselves.
