Born in 1951 in Luton, Bedfordshire, Eric studied painting and printmaking at Kingston Polytechnic (1970-73), the Royal Academy Schools (1973-76) and Goldsmith’s College, London University (1976-77).

At the Royal Academy, his tutors included Ruskin Spear, Willi Soukop, David Tindle, Bernard Dunstan, William Scott, Gertrude Hermes and Edward Bawden. He has frequently exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition since 1974 and has won various awards and prizes, including:

British Institution Fund, Award in Fine Art
Armitage Prize (Silver Medal), for painting
The Landseer Prize (Bronze Medal), for painting
The Arthur Hacker Prize (Silver Medal), for portrait painting
Royal Overseas League prize winner 1975, 76, 77 (first prize)
Laing Art Show – winner 1977 and 1993

He now lives and works in Bedfordshire. He has had numerous group and one-man shows and his work is held in private collections in this country and abroad.

Eric is listed in ‘ Who’s Who in Art’, published by The Art Trade Press Ltd and the Directory of International Biography.
