Hi,
my name is Nikki and I am a Wet Felter or Fibre artist.

I come from a background of nursing and creating water colour painting to help supplement my wages. Then for many years, with day to day being so busy I concentrated on Nursing and becoming a mum.

As the children grew up and started to become more and more independent I enjoyed visiting craft and art events. I found I was drawn to the felt stalls as the colours were so magnificent and the medium so tactile. I decided to give it a go. This was about 6/7 years ago. I have no recollection of where I first found the wool fibres or how I knew to felt. It was just something I HAD to do. I was hooked! It is something I have to do. I LOVE it with a passion.

Wool fibres are such a forgiving and versatile medium to work with. What can be more magical- some wool fibres , an idea in your head , soap and water and a bit of elbow grease (agitating the fibres). Then these wool fibres turn into a piece of fabric. Pure magic and so exciting. Amazing watching your work come to life.

Creating pictures are still my main passion. However there is no limit to the scope of creations that can be made with wool-Bowls,Brooches,Hats,Scarves,Bags,Clothing-it just goes on. The only limit is your imagination.
