Mark Cheng

Mark Cheng is an oil as well as a watercolour painter. His style varies between the wholly figurative impressionistic at one end to pure abstract at the other, but most of his work is semi-abstract. A large number of his work is characterised by strong, bright colours, but recently, he has produced much more atmospheric paintings.
Cheng has been painting most of his life. however busy he was, he always found time for painting, but since his retirement he has been able to produce a lot more work.
In the 1970s Cheng produced a set of Stations of the Cross in semi-abstract style. for St Philip and Saint James Church in Brickhill. The set is on permanent display in the church and has won positive reviews. He also did a traditional set of the Stations for St Andrew’s Church. These have been on display during Lent for the last few years. Some of Cheng’s paintings are also on display at Emmaus in Carlton.
