Helen Roberts

I enjoy making ceramic ware for the outdoor environment. My work ranges from individual planters large and small, to tall decorative pieces. All work produced to be situated outside is completely weather proof, as it is fired up to 1260°C.

My ceramic pieces are made using hand-building techniques such as coiling and slab building. These techniques give almost unlimited freedom on any shapes and designs I want to create.

Completed designs are different aspects of natural themes mixed together to produce something totally different. Ideas so far come from the many different formations of colour and texture found within landscapes, including the Scottish Highlands, as well as the detailed pictures taken of the planets and their surfaces, galaxies and stars.

After completing my Ceramics Degree at Plymouth College of Art and Design in 2000, I worked from studios in Plymouth and have taken part in many exhibitions in the South West and South East of England, before moving to Bedfordshire.
